Dear Friends;
The past couple of months
have been very busy for the commissioners. Besides our
regular scheduled meetings and dealing with controversies
and variances, all commissioners traveled to Cheyenne
to attend the Wyoming County Commissioners Association
meeting, which was focused on discussing the house and
senate bills presented for this legislature session. Generally
the issues that face Teton County are different than the
issues of the rest of the state, and these meetings give
us the opportunity not only to campaign and promote our
issues, but to understand what the challenges and concerns
are across the state of Wyoming.
Some of us attended the
swearing in ceremony for our new Wyoming Senate and House
representatives and heard speeches from the Governor,
Speaker of the House, and the President of the Senate.
It was moving to be there, every speech and presentation
was expected, but somehow you could feel how spiritual
Wyoming is with power, beauty and grace.
SRA (Snake River
Associate) Plan: I can assure you that the SRA
plan has not been decided and your input is still valuable.
The first Commissioner hearing on the latest SRA plan
will be held on the 15th of February, 2005
at the Wort hotel at 9:00 am. Public comments will be
taken at 10:30 sharp. There will be time for every attendant
to comment.
I have provided for our
citizens an interactive web page, with a forum where citizens
can make comments that can be shared with others, along
with many useful links, meeting times, minutes and agendas.
You don’t need to register to make your comments. Visit
www.jimdarwiche.com . The web page also
has a series of colored maps and aerial photos which compare
the exciting Teton Village boundaries to the new boundaries
proposed by SRA expansion Plan.
Budget:
The budget always has been my concern. We are looking
ahead to monitor budget increases with a comparison to
the last four years budgets and expenditures. We are
also hoping that we can provide a budget that will reflect
our vision for the future.
CCA (Community
Center for the Arts): CCA has opened its doors
and it’s inspiring to tour the facility and see all the
different facets of the arts and other groups coming together.
Habitat for Humanity:
The Framing our Future event is an example of how our
community can come together with the creativity to bring
a successful event to help invest in our future.
I always appreciate your
comments. The quality of our community is worth all we
put into it.
May you and your loved
ones have a great Valentine’s Day!
